There was great excitement as our students and families ventured back for the start of school. It was wonderful to welcome our new prep Students and their families. The welcome back morning tea was well attended as parents reconnected for the start of the year. The Preps have all settled in beautifully, working and playing throughout the day with great enthusiasm and confidence. We are blessed with new students and families at St John's this year across different year levels. Year 6 Jumpers The Year 6 students were very excited to receive their new school jumpers today. The new rugby style jumper looks great and they all wore them very proudly.
Students at St John's School Mitcham participated in a flag raising ceremony and Anzac Day Service and where presented with a new message stick.
It was very exciting to welcome back our Prep students today after 10 weeks of remote learning.
Over the holidays we put our finishing touches to the new Chicken Enclosure. We are delighted to now have 5 new chickens at St John's.
Recently we had a very special guest visit the 3/4 learning area as part of the students persuasive writing unit.
On Tuesday the 11th of May students at St John’s participated in cyber safety workshops led by Martin McGauran of Inform and Empower.
On Wednesday the 28th of April we held our annual Grandparents Day event. Students and their grandparents or special friends came together to celebrate mass in the morning, before heading off to the classrooms to participate in an activity together.
On Tuesday the 10th of March the Year Six students departed excitedly for Camp Nilahcootie.
At St John’s we are committed to developing an awareness of the Aboriginal culture and seek to journey towards reconciliation.
This year the Environment & Sustainability Team have organised a number of activities for the school to be involved in.
