Recently our junior school students participated in a two week, intensive swimming skills program at Aqualink Swimming Centre in Nunawading. The students were grouped according to their swimming abilities and worked with their trained swimming instructors to develop their skills and water safety knowledge.
Here are a few comments from our junior students on their experience.
What did you learn?
Lucas: We practiced freestyle. You have to move your arms and blow bubbles for your breathing.
Alana: I learnt survival backstroke. So if you are in a dangerous situation, like at the beach you can do survival backstroke.
Sheridan: I learnt how to float on my back.
What did you improve?
Lucas: I improved how to dive and pick up heavy toys from the bottom of the pool.
Alana: I got better at floating on my back, you need to remember to lift your tummy up when floating and spread out your arms.
Sheridan: I am more confident swimming in the deep end of the pool because I had my teacher help me.
